How Do I Qualify for the Greener Homes Grant?
Upgrading your home heating and cooling systems improves your home comfort, reduces your carbon footprint, and helps the economy. This new grant is called the Canada Greener Homes Initiative and offers Canadian homeowners up to $5000 towards energy-efficient home improvements and up to an additional $600 toward EnerGuide evaluations.
One great retrofit for dealing with the Winnipeg weather is getting a home heat pump. Not only does it keep you warm in the winter, but it also removes the heat from inside your home and releases it outside during the summer.
How does this programme work? We will book you an appointment with a registered energy advisor. After an appointment for a retrofit EnerGuide evaluation, you will receive a list of recommendations to make your home more energy efficient. At least one of the retrofits, such as having a certified technician from Lynn’s install a heat pump, must be completed for you to be eligible for the rebate.
After installing your heat pump, your advisor will do a post retrofit evaluation. They will then determine how much energy savings the retrofits account for. Following the evaluation, we will help you submit the Greener Homes Grant documentation. You could then receive a reimbursement cheque for as much as $6500 toward the work and evaluations!
